About Lottomatica

Lottomatica is one of the oldest names in Italian gambling, founded in 1990 as a lottery concessionaire and operator of the national Lotto game from 1993. Over three decades the name passed through De Agostini ownership and into the GTECH and later IGT corporate family, becoming one of the most widely recognised gaming brands in Italy along the way.

Today lottomatica.it is a full online casino under Italy's ADM regime, offering slots, live casino, poker and bingo alongside sports betting, with G4 responsible-gambling certification. The brand's modern chapter began in May 2021, when IGT sold its Italian B2C business — including the Lottomatica name — to Gamenet Group for €950 million; Gamenet then renamed itself Lottomatica, and the site continued as the group's flagship through Italy's November 2025 switch to single-domain online concessions.

The stock behind the brand is Lottomatica Group S.p.A., listed on Euronext Milan as LTMC since its May 2023 IPO. Original private-equity backer Apollo sold out of the company entirely in 2025, leaving it fully public and a member of Italy's FTSE MIB index, and the group entered 2026 as Italy's largest online operator with roughly 32% of the iGaming market.

Frequently Asked Questions about Lottomatica

Who owns the Lottomatica online casino?
Lottomatica Group S.p.A., an Italian company listed on Euronext Milan under the ticker LTMC. It is the former Gamenet Group, which acquired the Lottomatica brand from IGT in 2021.
Is today's Lottomatica the same company as the 1990s lottery operator?
Not exactly. The brand dates to 1990, but the original corporate entity evolved into GTECH and then IGT. The listed group using the name today is the former Gamenet Group, which purchased the brand and Italian consumer business from IGT in May 2021. The Italian Lotto itself is no longer run by this group.
Is Lottomatica's online casino legal in Italy?
Yes. Lottomatica.it operates under a licence from ADM (Agenzia delle Dogane e dei Monopoli), the Italian gambling regulator, including under the new online concession regime that took effect in November 2025.
