About Tipico Games

Tipico was founded in 2004 by three friends from Karlsruhe and became Germany's dominant sports-betting brand, with a retail network of over a thousand shops and long-running visibility as a Bundesliga partner. Tipico Games is its regulated online slots arm at games.tipico.de.

The naming is a regulatory story in itself: Germany's 2021 gambling treaty licenses 'virtual slot machine games' nationally but leaves online table games to individual states, and restricts use of the word 'casino'. Tipico holds a GGL licence for slots โ€” which is why the product is called Tipico Games, not Tipico Casino.

Ownership changed in 2026: private-equity firm CVC sold control of Tipico to Banijay Group, which completed the deal on 23 April 2026 and merged Tipico with Betclic to form Banijay Gaming (~72% Banijay-owned). Exposure to Tipico Games now trades as Banijay Group N.V. on Euronext Amsterdam under ticker BNJ.
