About Betclic

Betclic, founded by Nicolas Bรฉraud in 2005 and headquartered in Bordeaux, is France's biggest online sports-betting brand and a major poker operator. Its casino product lives in Portugal: betclic.pt runs slots and table games under an SRIJ licence, because French law licenses betting, poker and horse racing online but not casino games.

The company's ownership tells one of European gaming's stranger stories. Betclic grew up inside Stรฉphane Courbit's Lov Group, was folded into FL Entertainment โ€” the Amsterdam-listed vehicle that also owns TV production giant Banijay (Big Brother, MasterChef) โ€” and became part of the renamed Banijay Group in 2024.

On 23 April 2026 Banijay completed its acquisition of German betting giant Tipico and merged it with Betclic to create Banijay Gaming, one of Europe's largest online betting groups, roughly 72% owned by Banijay Group with CVC keeping a minority stake. Stock-market exposure to Betclic therefore runs through Banijay Group N.V. on Euronext Amsterdam, ticker BNJ.
